General Description:

Thorium was discovered in 1829 by J.J. Berzelius.

Thorium is a dark grey, radioactive metal. Much of the internal heat the earth produces had been attributed to thorium and uranium.

The metal is a source of nuclear power.When pure thorium is a silvery-white metal which is air-stable and retains its luster for several months.
